This is my most clickbaity title ever, am i right?
A while ago I wrote about how I had an article published in the Australian Artist Magazine, which sadly has gone belly up since covid. Actually I thought I’d done an entire article on my article (Issue Feb 2018) – it was a how-to on using egg tempera, and instead I buried it in another blog post. Weird!
I had done a bunch of extra tempera paintings for the article which they didn’t end up using. A lot of the instructions I gave were the ones I used in my tempera posts (the first one is here) – which are pretty much the one of the most popular art content I have on this site.
I kind of totally forgot about the paintings and I think one or two crept into other posts, but here they are. I did a step by step guide on how to do another tempera painting but the painting didn’t end up all that good so I can see why they didn’t use it.
I don’t know If I’m going to go back to using tempera again. It was a challenge and I don’t think it was quite my thing. I have other challenges in art I have not done, and since I didn’t really overly enjoy egg tempera to go back to, I think that might be it.
I should just put in for completeness’ sake the series of Famous Thinkers Wasting Time in a Modern Way:
