I visited Mansfield between christmas and new years and in the Womens Country Association op shop, I found a 1970s embroidery kit that no one had bothered to do. Took me about a week and inspired me to get into doing some more fabric craft.
A while ago i cut up some old dead clothing that I didn’t want to just bin, braided it, and made some coiled bags out it. It was kind of tedious, but I found a suggestion that old tshirts cut into strips could be used to knit chonky rugs with. So I found some comically large knitting needles and did this chonky boi. I have to say, I can’t remember when I last knitted, probably the early 80s, and I was dreadful at it. These days there is youtube to show you how to cast on and off – that was always the thing I got stuck on.
I also got hold of some crochet hooks and so far I’m not going to win any prizes, but you can see the difference between the horror of when i first started this and i’ve finally started getting into the swing of it. Again, I’ve certainly not crocheted this century, and I only ever did a few granny squares before that. I want to make myself a poncho, so i’m going to actually learn how to do it on crappy fibre first.
I finished the muppet row on my embroidery and have done three more movies. I’m nearly done! But I got bored with it so i started drafting up a cushion cover which i have started on. I will work on both of them.
I’ve been doing random arty stuff, some more doll customs, and actually have left the house a few times, i know, right?
