I made a hat from another Vintage Vogue pattern, 7325
I rather think I’d made the grey hat before and it didn’t work out all that well but I don’t remember what I did with it. I think it would make a nice black wool hat…warm for winter. I should try it.
The top three hats in this picture are the same hat with different trim. So basically there are only four hats in this pattern when it looks like there are more…ripped off! I decided to do the black version – a hat with bows on it, in a teal offcut I bought.
Of all the hats from the Vogue patterns I’ve done, I like the outcome of this one the best. It’s cute and jaunty, it does need elastic and probably pins to stay on but that’s 40s hats for you. I should have used stiffer interfacing/buckram as it’s a little floppy but it’s still cute. I’ve yet to wear it. I would remake this in another fabric happily.
This Vogue pattern was much easier to follow than the last one I tried. But the hats were also much more straight forward actual hats. It does help to actually, you know, HAVE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS. I’m looking at you, Vogue.
I have a little shaped buckram cap that I will eventually use for the green hat, once I’ve found fabric I want to make it with, then that will get a review.
