an oil painting of three trees on a sunlit path with a lot of pink in the background

The blocked path

Noodled around with oils again last night. Had some crimson paint leftover from the painting I did first…. I’m never one to waste a blob of paint – ooh look crimson background. Using utterly random colours works surprisingly well as long as you stick to the rules of: cold colours in the background, warm in the foreground, and don’t be afraid of the darks (get the tonal range down with lights and darks).
